*The following parable is adapted from one a professor gave in class last week. One day I might try to translate it เป็นภาษาไทย...
Imagine that you are aboard a packed songtaew headed for the Sofitel. There you have been promised a delicious all you can eat buffet. The entire ride will be over an hour, and there are some crazy people that keep on boarding. These people are talking real loud on their cell phones, stepping on peoples' toes, and just being rude... You observe that some people, are getting so bothered that they decide they have had enough, and press the buzzer to get off.
You are a bit perplexed why the rude people, who are causing so many nice people to get off, are going to get the all you can eat buffet; It makes more sense when you finally reach the Sofitel, and the lady in back collecting fares only lets the people who were nice get off.
The irony of the situation is that those who weren't nice go to the same place as those they couldn't stand.
Any thoughts?
That's deep man.....mmmmmm....Sofitel.....all you can eat...mmmmmm -Mitch
ReplyDeleteI didn't fully understand this part:
ReplyDelete"The irony of the situation is that those who weren't nice go to the same place as those they couldn't stand."
I don't know if I'm missing something or if you forgot to put in there...but did the rude people even care that they made some people get off?
Are all the happy smiling people in the picture those who were rude and loud? เรื่องนี้น่าสนใจมากนะค่ะ
ReplyDeleteYou told me this story last night, and I am still grappling with it a little bit. So, the people on the bus who aren't nice to the rude people can't get off and get the huge feast? Okay, I think I get it now...somewhat. So, an interpretation might be that we have to be nice and tolerant to those we can't stand, or we will end up where they are.
ReplyDeleteHmm... I don't really get it. What does it mean?
